2 · Maintenance Process
Shutdown & handoverIsolate steam, depressurize, drain condensate; record nip loads and temperatures.
DisassemblyRemove doctors and rotary joints; lift out rolls and shoe units.
CleaningClean roll and cylinder surfaces and steam lines; remove stock and scale.
NDTUT/PT on dryer heads and shaft ends; surface crack detection on rolls.
MetrologyRoll roundness / crown, cylinder grooving, bearing clearances, nip footprint.
Surface repairGrind press-roll / cylinder surfaces; re-cover where necessary.
Shoe serviceReplace shoe sleeves; renew hydraulic seals; calibrate oil film.
Steam & condensateRenew rotary-joint seals; verify siphons and steam traps.
Doctor refitFit new blades; set holder pressure and angle.
Heat-up trialSteam up; verify each cylinder temperature and nip dewatering.

Roll / cylinder roundness and crown to drawing after grinding; rotary joints and traps pressure-tested leak-free; uniform cylinder temperatures after steam-up; nip footprint uniform with stable dewatering; consistent doctor loading. Delivered with NDT, metrology and pressure-test records.
